Graduation

Well that went by in a flash! Seems like we just dropped her off at preschool. You know, the day I cried all the way home with a sleeping newborn in the backseat (that baby is on her way to high school in the fall). I still remember what she wore on her first day of school when she was 4 years old. She had on a pair of navy blue capri pants, a red shirt and a pair of red and blue Oxfords. Her hair was up in a pony tail and the look of terror on her face was one I’ll never forget.

My camera didn’t work during the ceremony. I complained enough about that stupid camera to Jon so I’ll spare the details here. I did get a couple of grainy photos outside.

I didn’t cry during the ceremony. Lets face it, ceremonies like that are long, kinda boring and extremely hot. I did however tear up at the end when one of the graduates got everyone going like it was a pep rally and  I lost it when the caps went flying in the air. Congratulations Emma! I’m so excited to see what this next phase in life is like for the two of us.

Day 2

Lucy’s first day went great! She was very tired when she got home but was so excited to tell me about her day. Last night around 6:45 I told her it was time for bed. I told her that she needed to get up early and go to school in the morning. She looked at me like I was crazy! School?? I guess in all the preparations I failed to mention that kindergarten was more then one day. Umm…..

So all of a sudden school stinks!  It’s boring and long and no fun without her mommy (ok, I liked that part). She was sad when she went to bed, annoyed that she had to wake up early and reluctantly went to the bus stop. I did see her standing up waving to me as the bus drove by for the second time. Later on today we’ll talk about bus safety.

Kindergarten!

I can’t wait until 3:45!!! I already miss her!!

I survived kindergarten morning with only a few tears. I’m mostly excited for her. She woke up on her own at 6:45. We walked to the bus stop 20 minutes early so she could hang out with Esme. She waved excitedly at Donna as the bus pulled up. She wasn’t sad, so how could I be? These last 5 years at home, alone, with her have been such a gift. I really look forward to watching her grow and learning who she’ll become. But again, I can’t wait until 3:45!!

Kindergarten Orientation

Lucy and I went to her kindergarten orientation this morning. Her teacher gave her a big hug when we walked into the classroom and seems really nice. Lucy was standing next to me being very quiet when 2 little girls walked up to her and asked her if she wanted to play with them. Then they took her by the hand and off they went.Image

I snapped a few photos with my phone and then I turned around and saw the other mother snapping pictures with her huge Canon camera. My kind of mom!!

Lucy is really excited about riding the bus this year!Image

School starts next Tuesday!!

Back to School

And, just like that, summer is over.

We had our annual back to school dinner last night:

Emma started her senior year of high school today. It hit me last night that this will be my last first day of school with her. I remember her first day of preschool, whispering to Jon “I’m scared, daddy” and crying all the way home. I remember crying on her first day of kindergarten. I remember crying on her first day of 1st grade. I remember, oh you get it. I didn’t cry this morning, though. I think I might be in denial. Which is probably a good place for me to be right now.

This little sweetie started 8th grade this morning:Image

And seriously, how is she already in 6th grade?:Image

This next one makes me laugh because Megan was flipping out for me to take the picture before the bus pulled up. I guess it’s uncool for your mom to take your picture in front of the bus when you’re in 8th grade:Image

I’ve been enjoying a couple hours of quiet with Lucy. I still have her around for a few more days until she starts kindergarten.

Here’s a Lucy funny:

Last night when Jon tucked Lucy into bed he gave her a hug and she put her sweet little hands on his cheeks and said “Daddy, has anyone ever told you you’re ugly before? Because you’re not and you’re nice.” Hahahaha! God Bless her kindergarten teacher!

Senior Pictures (according to my iphone)

Tracey came up Friday to take Emma’s senior pictures. WHAT?!?! I am so excited to see them! I’m sure they’re going to come out beautiful. Of course I had to document the senior picture taking for myself:Image

What? You don’t take pictures of people taking pictures?

This little lady starts kindergarten a week from tomorrow. She’s so excited, she’s dancing through the meadow:Image

Tomorrow is our last day of summer vacation for Emma, Megan and Chloe. As you can see, there are no pictures of them dancing through the meadow.

First Day of school 2012

Last night we had a nice “last day of summer” dinner with the girls. Image

Emma, Megan and Chloe woke up at 5am this morning, which means I also had to wake up at 5am this morning. I see lots of coffee in my near future!

One morning down, 179 to go!

Ready for next week!

All of the supplies have been bought for school!

And we’re all stocked up on snacks and juice boxes too!!

The classroom list was posted today. I don’t know why we even bother going to look. All it does is cause tears and frustration. Ok, I didn’t really cry in front of the school again, but my friend Heather did. LOL

6 more days!!

Almost time for school

Only 12 more days until the girls go back to school. Even though it will be nice for everyone to get back into a routine I’m not ready for a quiet house. I do have a lot of plans for Lucy this fall, though. Since I’m not sending her to pre-school I want to make sure she knows all her letters, numbers and a few other things before she goes to kindergarten next year. Marlene picked up a bunch of preschool work books that Lucy is dying to start. Can’t you just picture her sitting at this little desk with me everyday?? Image

Only one more year until my house is really quiet during the day and like always I’m going to Enjoy Each Moment.

Last day of school!!

I am so happy that summer is finally here! I look forward to the lazy mornings with my girls. I look forward to the heat, the pool, the beach, day trips, long weekends, Jon’s vacation, the drive in movies, the ice cream shops and picnics outside. I look forward to another old fashion country summer. I’m fortunate enough to live in a town where they do summer BIG with farmer’s markets on Saturdays, music concerts in the park on Tuesdays, ice cream socials, 4th of July parades and fireworks!

I look forward to all these things but putting Chloe on the elementary school bus this morning was really tough for me. It seems like I just put her on the kindergarten bus yesterday. I can’t believe that she will be in middle school. I wish time would slow down just a little bit.

I look forward to spending each day this summer with my girls and enjoying every moment. ImageImage
