Megan spent a few days at her grandparents last week. After we picked her up we took the kids to Newport. It was my first trip in 2 years!

The beach was so crowded! Driving away from the beach we noticed a mile backup just waiting to get in. We left just in time. After a fun morning on the beach we drove out to Flo’s on Island park. We tried to get in here on Mother’s Day but it was too crowded.

I love summer weekends

Summer…….. so far

I know I said that I wanted “quiet and relaxing” but this summer has been kinda B.O.R.I.N.G. Between Emma and Jon working a TON and getting the house ready for little Friary 7.0, we’ve been stuck in town for what seems like FOREVER! We’ve been trying to sneak some fun in here and there to make up for it.

I have TONS of photos to post. This might get a little boring for ya, but they’re moments I want to remember.

IMG_1018 IMG_1019We’ve been getting a lot of pool time in.

IMG_1023 IMG_1025 IMG_1027 IMG_1028 IMG_1032 IMG_1034Megan didn’t have a typical family birthday party this year. Everyone seemed to be in different places so we sat outside and made s’mores a few hours before Jon left for Germany.

IMG_1605I was a little nervous about passing my glucose test last week so I posted a sassy selfie to take my mind off it. I passed, thank God!

Raspberries are starting to pop. Lucy picks bowls full of them, adds a little sugar and eats the whole thing!

IMG_1636 IMG_1630 IMG_1624 IMG_1617 IMG_1615 IMG_1614 IMG_1613 IMG_1612 IMG_1611Jon and I took Lucy and Chloe to play mini golf on Friday while Emma and Megan went out. We had a BLAST!! Lucy’s first shot was a hole in one! They also went on a quick bumper boat ride before the place closed. They had the entire pool to themselves and had so much fun! I posted a cute video on Instagram (JillFri).

My parents came up to watch the parade with us this year. IMG_1070

You get lots of candy when you have two teenagers helping you out.

Busy, Busy!

We’ve been back in the states for over a week and things have been busy! I’m trying to get everyone ready for school. All 4 girls will be in 4 different places come next week. Jon is still over in London so I’m doing everything on my own. I was lucky enough to have my mom come up for a couple days last week. We spent a lot of time back to school shopping.

I found the camera that I’ve been wanting on clearance so I had to grab it! I think I’m in love with it!! We tried doing a little photo shoot the other day but it was cut short because while we were out there snapping away a fisher cat walked behind me. Gross and scary!! I got a couple of shots of the girls before that happened.

That last one is a little blurry but thought it was too cute not to share.

Lucy’s Picnic

Lucy was very busy in the kitchen yesterday afternoon. She loaded up zip lock bags full of carrots, celery and pretzels. She grabbed a few cheese sticks, filled 5 water bottles and loaded up her picnic basket. She went down stairs to grab the beach blanket and invited the 4 of us to a nice picnic outside. Lucy and I are lucky that we live with such sweet teenagers (and a sweet preteen) who will gladly go along with some of our ideas. ImageImageImageImage

It was nice to take a half hour out of our day to just sit, play and relax. 5 years old have the best ideas!

Our Weekend

Oh, I just LOVE summer weekends!! We spent both days playing in the backyard with the kids:ImageImageImage

A little bit of yard work was done:Image

Until the tractor died again:Image

(is it creepy that I take pictures when he isn’t looking?)

We washed the cars:ImageImageImage

We ate yummy food:ImageImageImage

Lucy became a dragon fly whisperer:Image

And we spent Saturday night over a friends house, talking and laughing late into the night.

Of course the weekend wasn’t perfect. I had laundry and cleaning. I had a little girl who wasn’t feeling well. I broke up more arguments then I would like to admit to,  Jon drove across 3 towns to pick Emma up from a sleepover and she was STILL sleeping when he got there. His tractor died after just getting it fixed 2 weeks ago and he was attacked by wasps while moving the hose. He got stung 3 times! Jon and I got into an argument but then something magical happened…. he admitted he was wrong. OH, I love him again!! It was a perfectly imperfect weekend!

Our Town’s 4th of July Celebration

About a month before we moved to town I heard what a big deal the 4th of July is around here. There’s a big parade, a town cookout and then a big fireworks show. I remember wanting to rent a hotel up here so we wouldn’t miss it. Unfortunately we had other plans that weekend and had to wait an entire year to participate in the fun. For the last 6 years we have sat in the same spot at the parade with the same group of people. The girls have such a great time! Every year I take tons of pictures of these kids all sitting on the sidewalk waiting for the parade to begin. There were a few families missing this year but we still had a great time. After the parade we came home to swim for a few hours, it was SO hot out there! Then we headed over to a friend’s house for a cookout and waited for the fireworks show.

4th of July

The 6 of us ended up spending the day at home this year. And what a great day it was! Jon and I  spent the entire day in the pool playing with the girls. Emma had to work for a couple of hours in the late afternoon but once she got home we made s’mores in the driveway and hung out outside again until the mosquitos got too much to handle.

Summer moments are the best!

Fun Weekend!

We had such a full, fun weekend! Saturday, Chloe and I went to see Beauty and The Beast. We stopped for lunch at Panera Bread on the way there. I love being able to spend such quality one on one time with each of my girls. ImageImageImage

To say that this girl loves the theatre would be an understatement.

Yesterday we spent the day celebrating Lucy’s birthday. It’s still hard to believe that my baby is turning 5 this week!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

She really had a great time celebrating with all her friends and family. She was so happy all day and had a really hard time falling asleep last night. After the girls went to bed I let her lay in my bed and watch tv. It’s something she won’t be able to do after her 6th birthday party. I’m so thankful that she didn’t have to get on a bus to go to school this morning. It’s nice having her all to myself today. We’ve spent the morning playing with all her new birthday toys. I still have 3 days left with a 4 year old! 🙂

Cousin Cookout times 2!

We ended the summer with two really nice parties with our families. Jon’s mom threw her annual cousin cookout on Saturday. I didn’t get as many pictures as I would have liked. I thought maybe if I ran around with my camera all day people would have thought I was crazy. I did get a couple of cute ones with Lucy and Sam. Image

As you can see I didn’t care if my parents and brother’s thought I was crazy with my camera:

They made me figure out the self timer on this one in less then 30 seconds. I love the expressions on everyone’s faces!

I was a little sad leaving both parties this weekend. We only get together with our extended family once a year now that we live so far away and everyone is busy raising their own families. I love having these pictures to look back on. I know that we have made so many nice memories for our girls.
