California Part 2

Can we just stop for a moment and appreciate how beautiful the world is

I’m really missing those California sunsets!!

Balboa Park:

We spent another morning down at the seaport and grabbed an early lunch. Emma wasn’t feeling well so she stayed behind

We went to dinner that night at Jon’s second cousin’s house. It was the first time we met her and we all instantly fell in love with her

Jon and I left the kids one night and met up with an old friend for some drinks

We pretty much went nonstop the entire time we were there and I have so many more pictures to share. Soon.

California Part 1

Our vacation got off to a pretty rough start. After struggling to get Beck’s car seat installed on the airplane we were told that we had to get off the plane due to bad weather. There was going to be a 4 hour delay. We had a connecting flight that we were never going to make. So we had to rebook our flights for first thing the next morning. We had 8 hours to wait and it didn’t make any sense for us to go home so we waited it out………. at the airport

We had a quick layover in TX

But, La Jolla you were worth the wait!!

It was a long day of traveling and beach going and we were all exhausted but there was no way I was going to miss my first west coast sunset. Megan, Chloe, Lucy and I all walked down to the beach to watch

We spent the 4th of July at the beach. We went to Torey Pines first and then over to Coronado and met up with Scott

Then we went to the seaport to watch the fireworks around the bay. It was an incredible sight to see

The following day we went to Seaworld. Jon hated Seaworld but I’m pretty sure it’s because he had flashbacks of Shamu pinching his ear when he was a little boy. The rest of us loved it!

We stopped at The Taco Stand on the way home. This place was DELICIOUS!! There was a constant line down the street no matter what time of day or night we drove by

SO good!!!

Sweet Emilie came for dinner one night

SO good to see her!

A few more pictures from the beginning of the week

If you’ve made it this far you’re a trooper. I think that was only day 3!! More to come!

June Photos

It’s hard to believe that June is more than half over. Yesterday was Lucy’s first official day of summer vacation and we’re already in summer mode over here. It usually takes me a few weeks before it starts to feel like summer break but this year it was immediate!

img_1559img_1556img_1693Lucy finished up elementary school and I have to admit that I’ve been so busy obsessing over Megan finishing high school that this didn’t hit me until she got out of the car on the last day. I still remember putting her on the kindergarten bus and all the emotions I was going through. This was pretty much the same.

The first thing we did was hit the library!

Oh, summer!!!!!!!! We love you!!

This Moment

She was sitting on the couch while I was putting Lucy’s lunch together this morning. I turned and saw her staring at me. She smiled and I burst into tears. It’s gonna be a long week. Graduation tomorrow.

Apple Picking

Now that September is here I am ready for all things fall!! Jon and I took the kids (well, 4 of them) apple picking on Saturday morning

Once Megan got out of work we took a ride out to Newburyport to go to the Riverfest. They Might be Giants was the closing band ( we got there with only 2 hours left of the festival).

Loved having everyone together to close out our summer. Happy unofficial start to fall!!

Maine

We took Megan and her friend up to Maine to look at UNE. Normally Jon is the one to take the girls on these college tours but we decided this time to make it a family affair. Ha! Sorry, Megs! I’m sure Marina loved a big ole family road trip with the Friary’s.

I’ll admit, I wanted to go because I wanted to spend a few hours up in Portland. We missed going up to Maine this summer and I think we were all craving donuts from Holy Donuts

Marina’s cousin just opened an organic cosmetic shop so we stopped in there because the girls had ordered some cheer makeup

Super cute shop! And, I love stores that have things to entertain kids while you shop!

We stopped at this place called Flatbreads for lunch and it was probably the best pizza we’ve ever had! Will definitely remember that place for next summer

It was a fun way to end our summer vacation. I’m not ready for all of the college hoopla that we’ll be going through over the next year but as much as I try, I can’t slow down time.

I’m just thankful that I have this little guy who makes me feel young 😊

August Little Things

I’m just going to give up trying to keep up over here this month. I’m hoping that once September comes and everyone is back to school, I’ll be able to keep track of this busy life a little better. Fingers crossed. In the meantime, I have to post some of our August photos over here because it was a GOOD month.

Happy Last Week of Summer! See you in September!!

Belle and Sebastian Concert

Every time I hear a Belle and Sebastian song it takes me back to living on Meadowview with a houseful of tiny baby girls. I always say that they’re the soundtrack to our early years. The first time we saw them in the concert I was 7 months pregnant with Chloe. Jon and I drove to Philadelphia because they didn’t have any Boston dates. We’ve been to every Boston show since!

We saw them again the other night for our anniversary date. We spent the night in town too, which we never do.

It was such a fun mom and Dad date night, even though we ran into Emma and Colin

Ha!

Last week Jon was saying how disappointed he was that they never play Sookie in the Graveyard so I sent out a tweet to B&S to ask them to play it in Boston. Then I sent a Facebook message asking them again. They got back to me saying that the set list was done but they would pass my request on to Stuart (the lead singer). When the song started playing emma started texting me like crazy. She was shocked to hear it. When the song ended Stuart said “that was for you, Jill. Thank you.” We all went crazy after that. LOL! It was super cool considering how big of a fan I am.

We had such a great night!!

Cape Days

It’s not very often that the seven of us get to go off for the day together. We’re down to having dinner all together about once or twice a week at this point. Boo. But, days out of the house together are very rare. Luckily Jon has every other Friday off and if Emma AND Megan are both around we try to do something fun as a family.

This past Friday we got up early (6:00) and drove two hours to our favorite beach.

We spent a few hours there and then jumped back in the car for another hour to drive to P-Town. We’ve done this a few times before and it makes for a really fun day!

And unedited

Hahaha! I have to admit that I love this little toddler who constantly hangs off his mama.
It’s such a fun town to walk around! After loading up on Salt water taffy and gelato (blueberry Vegan for me) I tried to take a picture of the five kids together but Beckett wasn’t having any of it at that point…. LOL

So we gave up and headed to our favorite P-Town restaurant, Pepe’s Wharf. It’s under new ownership and the menu has changed but the view is as pretty as always!

Before leaving we stopped at a tshirt shop to pick up a few souvenirs and I ended up getting a cute picture of the kids (best souvenir of the day)

Oh, Beckett!

After we left the little town area we took off for Race Point to see if we would be able to make the sunset. It had already been a long day and we knew we still had three hours of driving before we’d be home.

The sweetest lady offered to take a family picture for us. It’s not the best, but I’m going to include it here (AND ONLY HERE) because it’s of the seven of us and like I said, that’s pretty rare.

I love days like this!

Blueberries

I just got back from picking blueberries with the kids and I’m pretty sure that Beckett ate his weight in berries while out there. This is the first time that I’ve been blueberry picking since I was a little girl. When I was pregnant with Emma I developed weird allergies to most fruit. During my pregnancy with Beckett the allergies disappeared and now fruit is pretty much what I live on.

This was at the same farm that I’ve posted about many times before so after we picked our berries we went to see the farm animals

I’m pretty sure that Beckett thought this was the greatest place on earth! So much fun!!
