Cooking with the girls

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures of the girls “working” with me in the kitchen. I love that they want to help out and learn. I also love Lucy in this chef hat!! Image

Summertime food

Every January/February I start to long for the taste of summer. I don’t mean just the beach and sun. I start to imagine myself sitting on the deck with a nice cold drink while Jon stands at the grill. Mmmm…. here are a few of our recent summer meals. Enjoy!!

My week in iPhone photos

My kids are really good sports when it comes to me taking their picture. I either have my camera or my phone with me at all times because I’m so worried about not catching all the cute moments of their lives.

Here is Lucy trying to do exercises like her daddy.

Last night on the way home from Chloe’s lesson I took the long way home. I knew the lighting near the farms would be awesome so I had to take a few pictures of her. I really wish I would have had my camera this time instead of my phone but I still think these came out pretty good.
Enjoy each moment,

Our 4th of July Celebration

Every year we look forward to celebrating the 4th of July in this little town of ours. This year after the parade we went to a friend’s party. We had such a wonderful time with some great friends.  We enjoyed the pool, a 3 legged race and a watermelon eating contest. After the party we finished off with some amazing fireworks.

I hope you all enjoyed each moment of your 4th of July Celebration!!

First weekend of summer!

Summer is finally here!! We had such a nice weekend with the girls. Saturday Megan’s select chorus had a concert at the farmer’s market.Image

While she sang we took Lucy and Chloe to the playground for  a little while and then we walked around and bought some yummy fresh veggies and organic meat. I look forward to stopping every Saturday this summer. ImageImageImage

After the farmer’s market we rushed home to Megan’s 12th birthday party. She had her 5 best friends come a little bit earlier then the other kids to do a time capsule. It was a very sweet idea. They wrote each other letters and included some photos. Jon buried this in the backyard with an opening date of June 2018. Image

After the party we made some s’mores with the girls and Megan’s friend Paige. Image

We ended the weekend with picking raspberries before bed. ImageImage

We really are enjoying all these summer moments.

Last day of school!!

I am so happy that summer is finally here! I look forward to the lazy mornings with my girls. I look forward to the heat, the pool, the beach, day trips, long weekends, Jon’s vacation, the drive in movies, the ice cream shops and picnics outside. I look forward to another old fashion country summer. I’m fortunate enough to live in a town where they do summer BIG with farmer’s markets on Saturdays, music concerts in the park on Tuesdays, ice cream socials, 4th of July parades and fireworks!

I look forward to all these things but putting Chloe on the elementary school bus this morning was really tough for me. It seems like I just put her on the kindergarten bus yesterday. I can’t believe that she will be in middle school. I wish time would slow down just a little bit.

I look forward to spending each day this summer with my girls and enjoying every moment. ImageImage

Saying Goodbye

I lost my grandmother yesterday. I was on my way to see her one last time when my father called to tell me that she passed away. I knew it was coming for weeks but that didn’t make it any easier. Watching my mom cry made me think of the day that I will have to say goodbye to her and the day that my girls will have to say goodbye to me. I think it is so important to tell those you love how much they mean to you. No one ever gets sick of hearing “I love you”.

I will always remember how much my grandmother loved me and how I could do no wrong in her eyes. I still have sweaters and blankets that she knit for me. I will always remember the dolls that she made me when I was little and how she always let me take a sip of her Burbon Slush when no one was looking. I will remember her lecturing me in the morning that I wasn’t eating a big enough breakfast. And how mad she would get at my grandfather when he would tell her to leave me alone. My grandfather died 18 years ago today and I can picture him waiting at the gates of Heaven saying “What the hell took you so long?” Finally they are together again.

It’s going to be very hard saying good bye to her this week but I will treasure my memories forever.

Please,

Enjoy Each Moment,

Bring on Summer!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Jon and I purposely didn’t answer the phone this weekend so that we could spend the “first” weekend of summer with just our family. We spent most of the time playing in the pool and cooking out. The weather couldn’t have been nicer. On Monday morning we took the girls to Heale Pond to do a little hiking. It was such a great weekend! Hoping the rest of our summer is just as lovely.
