We went on our annual hayride this weekend. Seems a little different going as a family of 4 instead of as a family of 6. It was still fun though. The girls picked out their pumpkin and we grabbed some freshly backed cookies from inside the shop.

We’re getting ready to trick or treat! Unfortunately, Megan has a game tonight so she won’t be coming along. Not to mention that she’s 14 and too old to trick or treat. It’s still sad though. I wish her and Emma were still little enough to go out with us. Lucy and Chloe are both getting excited to get out there! Honestly, Chloe is looking forward to getting it over so we can start listening to Christmas music.

October seems to be flying by as quickly as the other months. I just realized that I’ve only posted twice this month!
A couple of weeks ago we had a little visit with Kristen

It’s been a very busy month!! Here’s a cute picture of Lucy waiting at the bus stop one morning:

Seriously! It was a pumpkin pie macaroon! I had to take a picture of it!!

Lucy’s art teacher wanted them to do a self portrait. We haven’t been able to figure out what color her eyes are yet (at 6 years old). It was really hard when I was figuring out her passport paperwork last year. They’re like marbles. There are all kinds of colors swirled in there. Sometimes they look green, sometimes brown and sometimes hazel. They are gorgeous! As you can see up top they looked green that day. Her art teacher is in the middle of teaching them how to express emotion in their portraits. This is her angry face:

Lucy is almost always happy but sometimes (like when someone tells her no) her angry side comes out. They also worked on their sad faces:

Luckily we don’t see that expression on her cute little face too often. I’m pretty impressed with these self portraits. Not too bad for a 6 year old.

75 degrees today! I’ll take it!

I was craving some black and white photos. It was so nice having Emma with us for the weekend. Lucy spent a lot of time in the garden with Baba.This one needs a little color just so you can see how delicious Jon’s jambalaya looks! 

I was going to post pictures of the new outside lights today but that will have to wait until tomorrow.
The girls had a day off from school today. Megan has cheerleading all day so it was just Chloe and Lucy with me. We were trying to figure out something to do when I remembered my favorite farm!!! I’ve posted about it here many times. Lucy was so excited to go play on the hay with Chloe, then Chloe got a call from her best friend asking her to go to the mall. Lucy’s face dropped. Being the awesome big sister that she is, Chloe told her friend that she would meet her at the mall when she was done at the farm with her sister.

Jon and I updated all of our lights on the inside and outside of the house this week.We were sitting on the couch the other day watching the Cosby Show (which turned 30 years old this week) and we noticed that the Cosby Family had the same sconces as the Friary Family.

We also updated the bathroom lights upstairs but now we need to do some painting.

The outside lights are all updated as well and I’ll post them tomorrow.

Jon and I were a little like the mouse in the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie book. We sat there looking at the counters, the cabinets and the doors  thinking about what we would like to do next. Each room feels new and refreshed. We couldn’t be happier with how everything looks.

Megan had her second game this weekend. It was an away game so we didn’t get to go. Look at how cute she is all dressed up! We took the girls apple picking yesterday. It seems a little strange not going as a family of 6. Everything we do seems a little off with just the 5 of us. We still had a lot of fun and it was nice to hear from Emma yesterday. She also went apple picking with some of her friends yesterday afternoon.  Apple Cider donuts Who on earth are you texting while you’re apple picking? Hey Megan, CATCH!NO!! Hey, look what I can do! Apple picking was a success! Another 20+ pounds of apples and we’re ready to start making some pies!

After apple picking we went on a little hike around the falls. Most of the water is dried up this fall.  Such a nice fall day!

It’s been a pretty busy fall so far. The girls have been working hard in school with various projects already assigned. Even Lucy had her first spelling test last week! I get the biggest kick out of that. I had a system with studying spelling words with the older girls when they were little and it seems a little nuts that Lucy is already at that stage! She likes carrying a toy down to the bus stop in the morning. This day she wanted to carry her binoculars:Jon was looking at something on Lucy’s “iPhone”. They were twinning so I had to snap a pictureEmma surprised her sisters on Friday. Look at how excited Chloe was when she got off the bus and found Emma waiting for her. We all miss her TONS!Megan is busy cheering almost every day. She is enjoying it so much and it makes the football games more exciting for all of us! I didn’t want to embarrass her by taking her picture during the game so I left my camera at home. I did snap this one though. I couldn’t resist. Last night she asked me to forward her all the pictures I took of her during the game, ummmmm…… I’m taking that as an open invitation to take the new camera to the next game.Chloe ran outside to pick a few tomatoes when she was in the middle of doing her homework one day. Chloe and Jon made the most delicious salsa last weekend! The weather is turning cooler which means it’s time to get the firewood ready.Just look at the leaves already turningThere aren’t nearly enough hours in the day to take the amount of pictures I’d like to. I have to make more of an effort with my camera. These are the days that I always want to remember!

Part of my daily routine is walking down to the bus stop to pick up the girls.

It’s always pleasant in weather like this.
