Gosh, we are already in the later part of the season and I have so much to catch up on. This is my absolute favorite time of the year. Mostly because of the weather but also because even though it’s busy, it’s the perfect time of year to cozy up at home and just enjoy my family.
We celebrated Beckett’s 4th birthday earlier this month. I still need to go back and do a birthday update for him. I can’t believe how much he’s grown this year! On his actual birthday we drove into the city and had dinner in the North End
After dinner we went back to EMMA’S NEW APARTMENT for desert. All in capitals because I can’t believe she is on her own!
The following day we had a big family birthday party for him
Lucy is enjoying Cross Country
And Beckett is enjoying being the center of attention with all of her friends. Ha!
Alison and Grace came up to spend the day with us
Beckett decided that clothes were a suggestion and not a requirement. Hahaha~
We went to Tracey and Paul’s surprise 25th Anniversary party
We went from apple picking:
To pumpkin picking:
I worked on Chloe’s senior pictures
A few more fall pictures from this month:
The little kids are getting excited for Halloween but to be honest I am SO ready for the real holidays to get here. My house is feeling a little quiet with only 5 of us here. I can’t wait to have everyone home again.
I found this bucket list last year and plan to check off most if not all of it! I am SO ready!!
The house is pretty quiet right now. Beckett is sitting in the living room setting up his cars and tracks. Jon and the girls are all off at school and work and I’m really enjoying the quiet time with Beck. We started working on a little homeschooling here and there. He’s still only 3 so I’m not pushing anything. He really does enjoy it though!
As much as I love the quiet and the routine (I really do), I’m already missing the noise of the summer with everyone around.
Some pictures from our last weeks of summer
One of Emma’s friends got married a couple of weeks ago and she had to wear the traditional clothing to the ceremony.
My dad took Lucy and Colton fishing the day before school started. I HAD to drive by and snap a picture. Outings like this are so special and I know this picture will mean so much to her when she’s my age.
I spent a lot of time with the girls while Jon was on a work trip
I love babies and toddlers so much but there is something so amazing about grownup kids too! They really are the best of friends and I am so thankful for that! This particular night we all stayed up late talking, telling stories and laughing until our sides hurt.
This boy LOVES being outside!
Before we knew it we were shipping Megan back to Boston
She is loving her new living situation and her new roommates!
I’m so glad!! It makes leaving her there so much easier!
Speaking of Boston, Jon and I went to the Sox game the other night. One of my biggest fears has always been getting hit with a foul ball. We always sit around 3rd base so I pay close attention to the left hand batters. I’m not sure why I wasn’t looking during this play but before I knew it my leg was stinging and Jon was telling me to watch out. In that exact order. LOL Thanks, Jon!!
I am honestly so glad that it hit my leg and not the guy in front of me (who was glued to his phone the entire game). I’m not sure how it missed his head and hit me in the thigh. Ha! I’m assuming that since I got hit the other night it won’t happen again. EVER. Right??
Ouch!! At least I have a funny story to tell. Like how everyone around us (we were in a luxury box) seemed so concerned but Jon told them I was just grazed. Ha! I knew there was a reason why I disliked the Yankees so much!!
Today is the first day of school. First day of senior year for this sweet girl
This is Senior Chloe
She got right in the car and drove herself off for the first time. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit emotional about that fact. Ha!
Let’s back up a little bit.
It’s been a pretty emotional week around here. Lots of big changes happening (good things, I promise). One thing I refuse to let change is our traditions. Every year we have a little back to school dinner for the kids. This year was a little different because Emma was at work, Megan was in Boston and Jon is on work travel but I had to make sure that we still celebrated my 2 girls I was sending off today.
After sending Chloe off to high school this morning it was time to get Lucy ready
I can’t believe this girl is in 6th grade!!
Meanwhile, up in bed was this little boy totally passed out! The same little boy who work me up by 6:15 every morning this summer
Our town’s local law enforcement and first responders were waiting at the school to welcome the children back. You can’t see it in the picture but there were chalk signs all over that sidewalk offering words of encouragement to these middle schoolers. I thought that was the best thing ever because, in my opinion, the middle school years are the toughest years!
Only a few more days before this girls ships up to Boston for her sophomore year! CRAZY!! We’re going to soak up these last few days with her before it’s just Beck and I
I’m already missing the days of all 4 of my girls lined up on that fireplace and front steps for their back to school pictures. Waiting at the bus stop (or running since we were always late) for Donna to pick them up. After school cookie dates meant for listening to their stories about their first day! Time truly is a thief!
Offering up a prayer that these kids (as well as my others…. and your’s too) have a fantastic year!! Only 179 more school days until Summer Vacation!
After 4 looooooong years this beauty finally got her braces removed
She couldn’t be happier!!
Three! 3!!! It’s crazy to think it was 3 short years ago that this little boy came into our lives. In some ways it seems like yesterday and in other ways it seems like he’s always been here.
Beckett, you have grown so much this past year. You are talking up a storm. You say EVERYTHING and use such big words!! You also like to use cuss words and we’re all trying to work on that. Ha! You still have everyone in this house wrapped around that cute little finger of yours!! You can throw a temper tantrum like nobody’s business bringing an entire store to a standstill. But, you can also charm the pants off a complete stranger in the checkout line when you introduce yourself as Romeo. Yes, Romeo. You’ve been telling people that your name is Romeo for the last 6 months.
Eating: You are officially the pickiest eater we’re ever had to deal with. For breakfast your favorite things are chocolate milk, avocado toast with Everything but the Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s, pancakes, monkey drinks, yogurt or donuts. You LOVE donuts!!! Lunch is Annies Mac and cheese, french fries, crackers and cheese, pretzel and hummus, soup and recently you’ve taken a liken to chicken nuggets. Dinner consists of you throwing your food all over the place and not really eating at all. Unless we’re having fish. You LOVE fish (almost as much as you love donuts). You’re a fantastic snacker so I try and make your snack as healthy as possible but you still seem to find a cookie or two. Your diet is all over the place these days but you LOVE your vitamins!! Thank God!
Sleep: You finally sleep through the night (90% of the time). You insist on reading at least 5 books at night and then you NEED to be rocked to sleep. Every time I try and put you in your crib you tell me “one more minute” so I sit there and rock you for “one more minute”, which is actually 20. Ha! This happens everyday at nap and bedtime. You are quite the little snuggler so I don’t mind.
You are still obsessed with all of your sisters but these days Lucy is your bff. You follow her all over the house and yard and miss her so much when she’s at school. You’re also really missing your Memmy (Megan) while she’s away at college.
You LOVE to play outside. You love going to the park with daddy and driving your truck around the yard. You like to sing but don’t want anyone singing along with you. You say its annoying. Ha! You are quite the little dancer these days and LOVE Bruno Mars. You still love Mickey Mouse but really enjoy movies. Your favorites this year are Despicable Me 3, Boss Baby, Trolls, Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and Hotel Transylvania. You love playing with cars, batman toys and most recently PJMasks toys. You give the best hugs and kisses and tell all the girls in your life how pretty we are ( we LOVE that ). It’s so fun having sweet conversations with you. You’re turning into such a sweet big boy but you’re still little enough to crawl on our lap and asked to be rocked. I’ll rock you until you are 10 if you want!! Happiest of birthdays, Beckett James!! We love you soooooo much!!
September 28, 2005 – September 21, 2018
Spring has sprung! ………. somewhere, just not here in the northeast. While my favorite Instagramers are posting super cute photos of themselves in spring dresses and sandals I’m sitting over here in my Ugg boots sipping hot tea.
Cold weather won’t keep me from searching the internet and Instagram for spring clothing and accessory inspiration. I’ve loaded up on spring dresses (for the girls and I), shorts, tops, sandals, sunnies and cute hats for B.
The accessory that I’m most excited about is my new watch from JORD watches. The company reached out to me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be willing to partner up with them. I jumped at the opportunity because as far as I’m concerned the JORD watch has been the “IT” watch on Instagram for a while now. I was more than pleasantly surprised when my watch arrived. Actually, I was super excited!! The watch came packaged in a beautiful wooden box hugging a pillow to keep it in place. It would be PERFECT for gift giving!
This unique wooden watch is absolutely beautiful! Since most of my new spring and summer clothes have been navy or blush colored I chose the Frankie series in zebrawood and navy. I’ve been wearing it for about a month now and it goes with everything I own!
The look of this watch is classy and timeless. It’s a piece that I will have in my collection for a long time.
Now for the fun part! I am giving one lucky winner a chance to win a $100 credit towards a JORD watch of your own. Everyone who enters will automatically get a code for 10% off. You can enter at http://www.jordwatches.com/g/6friarys
This contest runs through April 15th.
Although I was given a JORD watch for this blog post all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Come on warm weather. We’re ready for ya!
Megan and Chloe are finally wrapping up school this week with finals and half days. Lucy has to go until next Tuesday. Boo! But it feels like summer is already in full swing around here. LOVE having everyone around during the day! Let’s just hope that the summer doesn’t go by as fast as the school year has.
