Columbus Day Weekend

She was really this close most of the time they were carving the pumpkin.

Sunday afternoon we took the kids to a local farm to go on a hayride and to pick out another pumpkin. ImageImageImageImageImageImage Emma, Megan and Chloe are getting to the age where carving pumpkins with dad and going on hayrides aren’t as fun as they used to be. It makes me sad how quickly things are changing. These are some of our favorite things to do with the girls. Emma had to work on Sunday when we went on the hayride. Megan and Chloe were such good girls and went to make Lucy happy. Jon and I are trying to enjoy each of these moments to the fullest because we know they won’t last forever.

School Lunch

I can’t get my lunch date with Lucy out of my head! I LOVED being at her school with her and meeting all her new little friends. I loved watching these little tiny babies (ok they’re 5) trying to figure out the ins and outs of the school cafeteria. There was this one little boy sitting across from me who was struggling to open his cheese stick. OMG! It was a riot. I offered to help but he wanted to do it himself, and he did. The cheese stick was smooshed and the wrapper was torn to shreds but he did end up getting it open. As for eating? I think he took 2 bites of it. Some of these kids’ parents packed the biggest feed bags I ever did see! Hardly any of the kids ate their lunches or snacks, they sat there talking, giggling, watching and learning. Except Lucy. She ate every single thing I put in her lunch box and some of my snack that I brought for myself! So this morning I sent her to school with an extra lunch snack. Even packing Lucy’s lunch bag is fun 🙂

Senior Pictures (according to my iphone)

Tracey came up Friday to take Emma’s senior pictures. WHAT?!?! I am so excited to see them! I’m sure they’re going to come out beautiful. Of course I had to document the senior picture taking for myself:Image

What? You don’t take pictures of people taking pictures?

This little lady starts kindergarten a week from tomorrow. She’s so excited, she’s dancing through the meadow:Image

Tomorrow is our last day of summer vacation for Emma, Megan and Chloe. As you can see, there are no pictures of them dancing through the meadow.

Lucy’s Picnic

Lucy was very busy in the kitchen yesterday afternoon. She loaded up zip lock bags full of carrots, celery and pretzels. She grabbed a few cheese sticks, filled 5 water bottles and loaded up her picnic basket. She went down stairs to grab the beach blanket and invited the 4 of us to a nice picnic outside. Lucy and I are lucky that we live with such sweet teenagers (and a sweet preteen) who will gladly go along with some of our ideas. ImageImageImageImage

It was nice to take a half hour out of our day to just sit, play and relax. 5 years old have the best ideas!

Our Weekend

Oh, I just LOVE summer weekends!! We spent both days playing in the backyard with the kids:ImageImageImage

A little bit of yard work was done:Image

Until the tractor died again:Image

(is it creepy that I take pictures when he isn’t looking?)

We washed the cars:ImageImageImage

We ate yummy food:ImageImageImage

Lucy became a dragon fly whisperer:Image

And we spent Saturday night over a friends house, talking and laughing late into the night.

Of course the weekend wasn’t perfect. I had laundry and cleaning. I had a little girl who wasn’t feeling well. I broke up more arguments then I would like to admit to,  Jon drove across 3 towns to pick Emma up from a sleepover and she was STILL sleeping when he got there. His tractor died after just getting it fixed 2 weeks ago and he was attacked by wasps while moving the hose. He got stung 3 times! Jon and I got into an argument but then something magical happened…. he admitted he was wrong. OH, I love him again!! It was a perfectly imperfect weekend!

Belle and Sebastian Concert

The summer months are really slipping by now! I just realized that I never posted anything about the Belle and Sebastian concert we took Emma to. Belle and Sebastian’s music is like the sound track to our early years 🙂 Every time I hear their music it takes me back to our tiny little house with tiny little girls dancing around. Emma wanted tickets to see them for her birthday and since Jon and I have NEVER missed one of their Boston shows we were excited too!

Before the show we took Emma to Legal Seafood (where she tried to steal some rolls)

We posed on the pier:ImageImageImage

It was a lot of fun sharing our band with Emma 🙂
