Travel Day

I’m really lucky that my kids are good travelers. We woke up at 2:30 am to go to the airport and look how happy she is:

We had a slight delay in Puerto Rico which made a long layover even longer but it was a really good travel day. After enjoying their first swim we went back to grill some hamburgers. Everyone went to bed early, excited for what the week would bring. I took over 600 pictures and lots of videos that I plan on sharing this week.

Our Town’s 4th of July Celebration

About a month before we moved to town I heard what a big deal the 4th of July is around here. There’s a big parade, a town cookout and then a big fireworks show. I remember wanting to rent a hotel up here so we wouldn’t miss it. Unfortunately we had other plans that weekend and had to wait an entire year to participate in the fun. For the last 6 years we have sat in the same spot at the parade with the same group of people. The girls have such a great time! Every year I take tons of pictures of these kids all sitting on the sidewalk waiting for the parade to begin. There were a few families missing this year but we still had a great time. After the parade we came home to swim for a few hours, it was SO hot out there! Then we headed over to a friend’s house for a cookout and waited for the fireworks show.

4th of July

The 6 of us ended up spending the day at home this year. And what a great day it was! Jon and I  spent the entire day in the pool playing with the girls. Emma had to work for a couple of hours in the late afternoon but once she got home we made s’mores in the driveway and hung out outside again until the mosquitos got too much to handle.

Summer moments are the best!

The Farm

My one on one time with Lucy is slipping away much too quickly these days. The girls get out of school next week! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being with all of my girls. Last year on the first day of summer I drove to the grocery store with all 4 of them and I had the biggest grin on my face the whole way! I skipped down the aisle happy as could be with all of them. It didn’t last all summer between the bickering and the “I’m bored” comments but it was great while it lasted. I’m excited that school ends next week and I have a TON of things planned to minimize the bickering and the “I’m bored” comments. But today was about Lucy and mama. It was the last time Lucy and I could stop (alone) at the farm. My last day as a mother with just “one baby”. I will admit that there were some tears when we left the farm (mine not hers). There were a few in the Target toy aisle (again, mine not hers) and then a full on break down on the way home. Ok, maybe I’m being a little over dramatic but whatever! It’s not like she’s going away to college or anything. I have 14 more months before that happens in this house. Here come some more tears, enjoy the pictures!

Five

Lucy woke up 3 hours early this morning because she wanted to open her birthday presents. I asked her if she was sure she wanted to do it so early and she said “yes, just like Christmas”. So we all went downstairs around 6am to watch Lucy open her gifts. Image

So far 5 is fabulous! I had such a fun day with her!! I’m just hoping the next 5 years don’t go by as quickly. Happy Birthday to my sweet Lucy! I love you so much!!

Four Year Olds

Today is Lucy’s last day to be 4. When she woke up this morning she told me that she wanted to be 4 forever. I think because all year I’ve told her how wonderful I think 4 year olds are. It’s the first year of being a little kid. They are past the baby, toddler stage. No more diapers, diaper bags and strollers. It’s when they really start to develop their personalities. I find 4 year olds to be sweet and kind little people who are eager to learn and eager to please. I will have miss having a 4 year old in the house but I’m excited to see what “5” brings. It’s another one of my favorite ages (along with 0,1,2,3,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 and 17……I really do love being a mom). So today, to celebrate Lucy’s last day as a 4 year old, I did what most other mothers with 4 years olds do. I took her to Target.ImageImageImageImage

Fun Weekend!

We had such a full, fun weekend! Saturday, Chloe and I went to see Beauty and The Beast. We stopped for lunch at Panera Bread on the way there. I love being able to spend such quality one on one time with each of my girls. ImageImageImage

Yesterday we spent the day celebrating Lucy’s birthday. It’s still hard to believe that my baby is turning 5 this week!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

She really had a great time celebrating with all her friends and family. She was so happy all day and had a really hard time falling asleep last night. After the girls went to bed I let her lay in my bed and watch tv. It’s something she won’t be able to do after her 6th birthday party. I’m so thankful that she didn’t have to get on a bus to go to school this morning. It’s nice having her all to myself today. We’ve spent the morning playing with all her new birthday toys. I still have 3 days left with a 4 year old! 🙂

Carnival

I’m not a huge fan of the carnival at all! But every year it comes to town and every year it parks it’s self on town field. Town field is in front of the school so there is no avoiding it. Don’t get me wrong,  I love rides, cotton candy and happy children. I just love them some place other then the carnival. Jon and the girls talked me into going this year and look what happened:

I’m glad that we went this year. It was a lot of fun and small enough to be done with in an hour. We had a lot of laughs, I got some cute pictures and we ate a huge bag of cotton candy! What’s better then that?
