This Moment
Lucy stayed home from school today. She sat in the chair complaining of a sore throat and stuffed up nose. So I put off all my daily plans (including volunteering) to snuggle up my Lu. We watched Frozen and read lots of books. Our morning was temporarily interrupted by a text from Emma saying she forgot her History homework. So we bundled up and ran to her school. About an hour later I got a call from the school nurse letting me know Chloe was sick. So off we went again.
…….My life as a stay at home mom……
(Wouldn’t have it any other way)
Bake For Good
Last Friday the King Arthur Flour company went to Chloe’s school for the Bake For Good (learn bake share) project. They did an entire presentation on baking bread and then gave each 6th grader 2 bags of flower, a packet of yeast, a bread scraper and a recipe book. The assignment was to make 2 loaves of bread over the weekend. One for your family and one for the local food pantry. This was my favorite homework assignment, EVER!
(Lucy wanted in on the action too)
She did such a good job!! She even braided the breads herself. I think I have a future baker on my hands.
Lunch Dates
Emma had a half day of school today and since it’s Friday we decided to surprise Lucy at lunch.
Lucy was so excited to see her walk in!! Her face turned bright pink 🙂
After lunch with Lu, Emma and I went and had our own lunch at Panera. Then did a little shopping. I love one on one time with my girls! We end up doing lots of talking and lots of laughing.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what I’m “supposed” to do now that the girls are all in school. Jon keeps telling me to just do what I love. When I saw this sign today I had to buy it, because I am doing what I love, each and every day.
Happy weekend! Go Patriots!
Oh Christmas Tree
We woke up to a blanket of snow this morning. It was a perfect day to get our tree!!! So we hopped in the truck and drove out to our favorite tree farm. I finally got our Christmas card photo taken this morning too! The setting was perfect for taking pictures today.

Lucy threw a snowball that hit Jon in the ear when it was our turn to pose
I shouldn’t have but I couldn’t stop laughing!
Right about at this moment I thought my heart was going to burst! Jon and the girls came riding up the hill with our tree.
The tree is far from perfect. In fact, when we put it in the stand we had a good laugh at how short it was. I don’t think it’s even 6 feet tall. We’re used to these big monster trees that reach the ceiling. It’s cute though and we can’t wait to decorate it tonight!! It’s starting to feel like Christmas!!!
Thankful
Our thankful tree is so full that it fell off the wall today! It’s fun to see all of the things that the girls are thankful for this year. Things like their sisters, their friends, their parents, You tube, candy, sports and their animals. The list is HUGE! Over 100 leaves on the tree this year.
This year, like every year, I am most thankful for the special people in my life.
Like my friends who love my kids and always make a big deal out of them:
My inlaws who treat me like their daughter:
My mom and dad, the 9am phone calls are one of my favorite parts of the day.
They love us more then anything and we can feel it
I’m thankful everyday that I’m their mother and that I get to stay home with them. There is nothing in the world more important to me then my family. Being able to stay home and take care of them has been one of the biggest blessings in my life.
I’m thankful that I get to be married to my best friend. I’m thankful for him every day for doing his job, and doing it well. So that I can stay home and raise our girls.
I love you, Jon.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thankful For My Helpers
Yesterday was Veteran’s Day and I had a lot that I wanted to get done around here.
Starting with something big for Jon. He’s been working so much lately that I wanted to make sure when he gets home this weekend he won’t have to clean up the yard.
So, the girls and I spent a few hours raking up all the leaves.
I’m thankful for the help the girls give me around the house when I need it or for watching Lucy whenever I need them to. Like yesterday when I took some time out to go running. I’m thankful that I had another great running partner while Jon was at work.
I’m thankful that I had a few minutes of peace yesterday to sit and have some tea (and that these two found me and kept me company)
I’m also thankful that these two are getting along:
Thankful For Sunday Dinners
We’re at a time in our lives where the kids are even busier then we are. Between after school activities, sports, work, drivers ed and hanging out with friends, my kids are always on the go. That’s why I’m so grateful for family dinners. Even though some nights there are only 5 of us (4 or 3 even) I make it a priority to sit down together every night at dinner. Jon has been traveling a lot lately so when he is home we treasure dinner time even more.
Our thankful tree is growing!! It’s nice to see my girls appreciate even the small things in life and write them down. I hope they always know how blessed they are.
A Month of Gratitude
I made it through September and October without feeling lonely. I walked in from the bus stop on November 1st and the quiet in the house hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m not sure if it’s because the holidays are coming and there isn’t anyone in the other room watching holiday cartoons or coloring holiday pictures, or the fact that Jon has been traveling for work since August. I spent about a half an hour feeling sorry for myself. I didn’t have any longer then that to sit and pout. I had things to do. I cleaned up my Halloween decorations, put out the thanksgiving ones. I met Lucy for lunch, ran some errands and came home to clean. Nothing exciting, just a typical Friday for me. As I looked around the house I realized that there are so many things for all of us to be thankful for. Last November we did our thankful poster but this year I took an idea from a mommy blogger and decided to do the thankful tree. I sat there cutting out over 100 leaves and realized that it was time to get Emma. When she came home she made the trunk of the tree. It was nice sitting there doing a project together.

I spent all afternoon thankful that I only have 5 hours of quiet in the house.
I can’t wait to see what the kids fill this up with.
Halloween 2013
We had another fun Halloween this year! Jon worked from home yesterday. He took me to pick up my glasses and we ended up buying new furniture for the library. Here’s Jon in his new favorite chair:
We ended up having a house full of kids all day. I made some Halloween cupcakes for everyone, it was great! Megan’s friend, Kelsey, came trick or treating with us:
Let’s take a closer look at that little cutie:
I came home from the bus stop this morning and packed up all of my Halloween decorations. I’m sure this was Megan’s last year trick or treating, probably even Chloe’s. It took a lot of convincing to get her to dress up this year. Kinda sad.
I already put out my Thanksgiving decorations today. I’m about to get started on our thankful tree. I have so much to be thankful for this year.
